Material Properties

The UHMWPE sheet is made from polyethylene with ultra-high molecular weight, known for its high abrasion resistance and excellent sliding properties. It exhibits high toughness, good chemical resistance, and low moisture absorption, making it suitable for critical food processing applications.

Performance Characteristics

This material has an impressive wear and sliding performance, with a wide temperature range from -200°C to +80°C. It features a low coefficient of friction and is food contact approved, ensuring safety in food-related applications.

Applications

Commonly used in food processing, conveyor and bottling industries, general machining, plant engineering, and bulk material handling, UHMWPE is versatile and effective in various industrial settings.

Advantages and Disadvantages

UHMWPE is odorless, tasteless, and non-toxic, with extremely low moisture absorption and self-lubricating properties. However, it has a melting point of 130°C to 136°C and is not recommended for prolonged use above 80°C to 100°C.

Machining and Bonding

Machining UHMWPE requires high-speed steel tooling with specific clearances. However, bonding can be challenging due to its low surface energy, which affects adhesive performance.
