Description
Tufnol Kite Sheet is a synthetic resin bonded paper (SRBP) laminate and a first class electrical insulating material. It has good dielectric strength, high insulation resistance, low moisture absorption and good mechanical strength. It is used at low, medium and high voltages.
Applications
Terminal boards, mounting panels, tag strips, coil formers, insulating sleeves and bushes, busbar supports, tool and instrument handles, coil supports, insulated enclosures, brush holders, insulating spacers and special purpose plugs and sockets.

FAQ
Q: What is Kite grade Tufnol used for?
A: It is more suited to higher voltage electrical insulation applications.
Q: What should Kite Tufnol not be used for?
A: It is not really suited to general purpose applications – it isn’t quite as strong as 1P/13 grade or Whale grade – and it is not suited to high wear applications. For wear resistance, see our Tufnol Whale sheet.
Q: How well does Kite Tufnol machine?
A: It machines easily and will machine up quite well with a carbide cutter, but will generate a fine yellow dust. It can be hot punched in thicknesses up to 3.2mm.
Q: Can Kite Tufnol be glued?
A: Yes – it is easily bonded with many commercially available adhesives such as Araldite, epoxies and contact adhesives.
Q: Is Kite Tufnol suitable for food applications?
A: No – Kite is not suitable for constant contact with food.
Q: Is Kite Tufnol chemical resistant?
A: It doesn’t have a very high resistance to chemicals or acids.
