Description

This Polyethylene Terephthalate (PET) rod is known for its high tensile strength and low friction properties. Ideal for various applications in mechanical engineering and the medical industry.

Material Properties

Polyethylene Terephthalate (PET) is a robust material that exhibits high tensile and mechanical strength. It maintains dimensional stability and has a low coefficient of friction, making it suitable for various applications. PET can withstand temperatures ranging from -20°C to +115°C and is compliant with food safety standards.

Performance Characteristics

PET offers superior resistance to acids compared to nylon and acetal. It has excellent creep resistance, good dimensional stability, and can endure radiation exposure, including Gamma and X-Ray. Additionally, PET is more dimensionally stable than acetal.

Machinability and Applications

This material machines well, comparable to acetal and significantly better than nylon. PET rods are commonly used in mechanical engineering, medical applications, conveyor systems, gears, heavy-loaded bearings, and cams.

Comparison with Other Materials

PET rods are approximately 30% stronger and 25% more rigid than acetal, with a lower thermal expansion rate and moisture absorption. Compared to nylon, PET offers better machinability, surface finish, and lower moisture absorption.

Limitations

Currently, PET rods are available in limited diameters ranging from 10mm to 60mm. While black PET can be ordered, the standard color is white. Additionally, PET is not suitable for hot water applications exceeding 60°C.
