Frequently Asked Questions
Is this genuine Nylatron® GS?
Yes – this rod is genuine Nylatron® GS.
Can this MoS₂ filled nylon rod be machined with standard workshop tools?
Yes, the rod can be machined using conventional metalworking tools such as saws, lathes and milling machines. Sharp tools and appropriate cutting speeds are recommended to achieve a good surface finish and maintain dimensional accuracy.
Is this nylon rod suitable for outdoor or damp environments?
The material has lower moisture absorption than many standard nylons and offers good dimensional stability, so it can be used in outdoor or damp environments. However, prolonged exposure to UV and weathering may affect surface appearance over time, so component design and environment should be considered.
How do I choose the correct diameter and pack size for my application?
Select a diameter that allows enough material for machining to your final dimensions while minimising waste. The 12mm diameter is supplied in packs of three 3m lengths for smaller components or higher quantities, while the larger diameters from 20mm to 35mm are supplied as single 3m lengths, ideal for larger or fewer parts. 40mm and 50mm can be bought as a 1000mm or 3000mm length.
Is the price per rod or per pack?
12mm is priced per pack of 3 × 3000mm rods. All other diameters are priced per single rod.
Can I get a custom length?
Yes, custom lengths are available on 40mm and 50mm. Please get a quote. For larger quantities, please get a quote too.
