Our Low Density Polyurethane Foam Block features a nominal density of just 0.048g/cm³. This foam is lighter, more cost-effective, and faster to cut and shape compared to high-density polyurethane foam blocks. However, it results in a less robust pattern that cannot be finished to as high a standard as high-density options.
Polyurethane foam is one of the most popular materials for pattern making in composites. It is inexpensive, dimensionally stable, easy to cut and shape, and compatible with a wide range of surface coats and resin systems. This makes it an excellent starting point for any pattern making project requiring hand shaping. Additionally, it is suitable for use as buoyancy foam or as a non-structural core material. Multiple blocks of PU foam can easily be bonded together to create large patterns.
