Description

PEEK sheet is a high-performance engineering plastic known for its exceptional mechanical properties and temperature resistance. Ideal for demanding applications in aerospace and medical industries.

Material Properties

PEEK, or Polyetheretherketone, is a semi-crystalline thermoplastic that offers a unique combination of high mechanical strength, temperature resistance from -50°C to +250°C, and excellent chemical resistance. It is also self-extinguishing according to UL 94 VO and complies with food safety regulations.

Performance Characteristics

This material exhibits outstanding high-temperature performance, with a melting point of around 343°C. PEEK is highly resistant to thermal degradation and performs well in both organic and aqueous environments. It has a tensile strength of 90 to 100 MPa and is biocompatible.

Applications

PEEK sheet is utilized in various demanding applications, including seals, backup rings, valves, and components for the aerospace and medical industries. It is also suitable for vacuum applications and can replace metal parts in high-temperature environments.

Machining and Bonding

Machining PEEK requires an annealing process to relieve stress and prevent cracking. Silicon carbide cutting tools are recommended, and while bonding PEEK can be challenging due to its low surface energy, surface roughening can enhance adhesive strength.
