Description

Description

These high-performance, roll-wrapped carbon fibre tubes are not cosmetically finished and show unidirectional, rather than woven, carbon fibre with a slight ribbed texture on the outside. They are manufactured using alternating layers of high strength unidirectional carbon fibre running both length-ways down the tube for stiffness, and at 90° around the tube to provide hoop strength. As a result, while pultruded carbon fibre tubes have good longitudinal strength, roll wrapped tubes are preferable for applications where the tube may be subject to a variety of forces including bend, twist and crush.

Carbon fibre tubes can be used to replace steel or aluminium tubes in a wide range of projects. As they have superior mechanical properties, carbon fibre tubes of the same weight as aluminium or steel can be much stronger, and carbon fibre tubes of the same strength can be much lighter.

Typical applications include UAVs, quad-copters, aero-modelling, camera-rigs, tripods, automation, leisure equipment, and motorsport, to name a few. This tube is available in heritage sizes which originate from imperial measurements still common in applications such as sailing.
