Description
Description
Our high precision carbon fibre rod is manufactured to high tolerances and maximum performance using pultruded unidirectional carbon fibres, ensuring that the strength of the rod runs laterally along its length. The smaller diameter rods are easy to bend in longer lengths but in shorter lengths can be effective for control rods or actuators on small scale applications. The stiffness of the rod increases as the diameter increases, with the larger diameter rods becoming extremely difficult to bend over shorter lengths and offering significant stiffness over longer lengths.
Pultruded carbon fibre rods are used in a wide range of applications requiring a very high strength to weight ratio. They offer excellent mechanical performance as well as very good water and chemical resistance, making them suitable for use in harsh environments.
Typical applications include model-making, engineering and automation, robotics and UAVs, recreational and sporting equipment, and even creative uses in art and fashion. If you have a requirement for machined or finished carbon fibre components, we can provide further information.

FAQ
-
What are the common uses for carbon fibre rods?
They are commonly used in model-making, engineering, automation, robotics, and sporting equipment. -
How does the diameter affect the stiffness of the rod?
The stiffness increases with the diameter, making larger diameters more rigid and difficult to bend. -
Can these rods be used in outdoor applications?
Yes, they are suitable for outdoor use due to their excellent resistance to water and chemicals.
