Description
Clear Polycarbonate Sheet – Impact Resistant Glazing, Cut to Size
Our clear polycarbonate sheet is one of the toughest transparent materials available — approximately 250 times stronger than glass at the same thickness, yet lightweight and easy to work with. Available in 14 sheet sizes and 7 thicknesses from 2mm to 10mm, this is the go-to material for machine guards, anti-vandal glazing, roof lights, and a wide range of industrial and commercial glazing applications across the UK.

Key Benefits
- Exceptional impact resistance — doesn't shatter like glass, providing long-term protection in high-risk environments
- Lightweight — half the weight of glass at equivalent thickness, making installation fast and straightforward
- Excellent optical clarity — up to 88% light transmission for applications requiring visibility
- Wide operating temperature range — performs reliably from -40°C to +120°C
- UV stabilised — suitable for both internal and external applications without yellowing over time
- Thermally formable — can be cold bent or heat formed for curved applications
- Easy to machine — drills, cuts and routes cleanly with standard woodworking or metalworking tools
Applications
- Machine guards and safety screens — the industry standard for protecting operators from rotating machinery
- Anti-vandal glazing — used extensively in transport, public buildings and commercial premises
- Rooflights and skylights — excellent light transmission with superior impact resistance vs glass
- Security screens and barriers — banks, post offices, retail kiosks
- Riot shields and protective barriers — where maximum impact resistance is critical
- Agricultural and greenhouse panels — UV stabilised for outdoor longevity
- Racing car windows — Marguard scratch-resistant grade preferred for motorsport
- Display cases and retail fixtures — clear, professional appearance
Thickness Guide
| Thickness | Best For |
|---|---|
| 2mm–3mm | Light duty glazing, display cases, small machine guards |
| 4mm–5mm | General purpose glazing, anti-vandal panels, medium guards |
| 6mm | Structural glazing, heavy machine guards, security screens |
| 8mm–10mm | High-security applications, riot barriers, heavy industrial guards |
Important Installation Notes
Polycarbonate is "notch sensitive" — when drilling, use sharp drill bits and avoid cracking. Always allow for thermal expansion in fixed frames — typically 2mm per metre of sheet length. For external applications, always specify UV-stabilised grade (supplied as standard). Clean using only mild soap solution with a soft cloth — avoid dry cloths or abrasive cleaners.
